Week 4 Highlights 2022
With steady of submissions of great music, we decided we'll easily have a great partial Week 5 or what we'll call Week 4+, so let's share with you 4 gems that came in recently. Once again clockwise from top left.
1) The Roses - Emily Johnson-Erday
Emily will wrap you in colors in her beautiful yet sad political pro-choice song. Truly a blessing in words, we feel honored to listen and to share it. Thanks for the submission.
2) Running with Wolves - Vanessa Lively
Here's a song just released to YouTube in a beautiful studio in her hometown of Austin TX where she leads music circles for people who have been homeless. The native sound captured in the piece is pure beauty.
3) Gone too Far - John Louis
John has become a friend of the fest since he found us in past songwriting contest, and last fest he played a song swap on Sunday. He's a laid back songwriter but grabs with you with a line that the holes in the drywall are the size of a fist but a shape of a heart, you know you've gone too far.
4) Olive Branch to Olive Green - Songa
Another repeat in our highlights, Songa really floored us with the dramatic piece with an old Appalachian feel; we'll bypass describing it you'll need to listen the story that Mario weaves. Locally you can catch them at Leo & Leona's in Bangor Saturday May 28th.
We hope you enjoyed a taste of the submission. Contest runs all of May so watch for one more highlight post of 4 songs at least. Rules and submission link is HERE https://greatriverfolkfest.org/Songwriting.html
We would like to thank our sponsors
